SAAS DUI / DWIs are specifically engineered for either right and left eyes to have 360 degrees of rotation with 129,600 total permutations. Since there are four intoxication levels using four different marked and colored pairs of power lenses, there are over one-half million additional spatial-temporal perceptual intoxication possibilities. Any one of these settings alone allows a new opportunity for recreating totally unique and different degrees of impairment. This is by design, since most subjects will try to "out smart" the trained SAAS DUI/DWI instructor. Suppose our subject has figured out the expected responses and does not demonstrate the pre-chosen intoxicating behavior. The instructor now rapidly changes the red dot settings of one or both lenses to re-confuse our subject's adaptation skills. Since not enough time elapses, the subject cannot make the required rapid central nervous system recalibration. Reluctantly, he or she is forced to demonstrate the original desired simulation. The expert instructor continuously monitors the subject's behavior and quickly recalibrates the dots during the simulation experience, either by yoking both prism lenses (arranging both permanent right and left red dots on each lens to be parallel to each other), or by non-yoking the prisms (right and left dots are not parallel to each other).
